Self-care habits

Today I am going to be sharing some self-care habits that I find truly important to have in a well-rounded self-care routine. When we talk about self-care, I find it important to focus on the things that are actually beneficial to your physical and mental well-being.

Going to the movies can’t be considered self-care if you leave crying each time and have to wallow for the night due to how emotional it is. However, going to the movies with a friend and leaving smiling!!! That can be considered self-care. I was hoping you could stick with me here to learn some of the best self-care habits that aren’t overused!

This post is all about 9 self-care habits that will transform your daily routine.

1. Take change one step at a time.

When you are working to implement change into your daily routine, start with one habit at a time for an easier transition. For example, you want to make a habit of making your bed and washing your face in the morning. I would suggest starting with one- making your bed – and tackle that for one week in a row. Then, next week, you will focus on washing your face every morning, while still making your bed.

2. Think before agreeing to plans

One of my biggest flaws is being a people pleaser and that starts with my inability to say no to plans. It’s not just the plans that are the problem. It’s the way I know that when the time comes for the plans I will regret agreeing to it so soon. Soemtimes I don’t plan ahead and I have another commitment that day, or sometimes I just don’t feel good and want a day to myself. Regardless, it’s good to think before you agree to plans and know there’s no harm in telling someone to ‘pencil’ you in for plans. Giving yourself room to cancel if you need to is sometimes enough to help you feel more content.

3. Be mindful of what you are consuming

With social media now a days, we are constantly soaking up information 24/7, whether it be good or bad. So when you are feeling emotional, stay away from social media and the news, find something fictional that will feel better for you to read. I know I can still struggle with fictional stories when they are super emotional so if you are like this as well, keep that in mind.

4. Shop less and appreciate more

If you are feeling blah this week and need a good pick me up, take some time to go through your closet/drawers, wherever you hide all your old junk. LOL. My favorite is going through my closet and finding a bunch of things I forgot about. I always end up changing my purse and decorations in my room when I do so.

5. Clean your room

What a perfect duo. Clean your room and go through your old stuff! It’s perfect, you get to go through all your fun stuff and then have a clean room afterwards. Nothing better than that!

6. Journal

My favorite past time is journaling. I journal probably 2 times a day, always at least once. So if you require some self-care, pull out your journal and get to writing!

7. Choose a dedicated self-care day/time

The best way to ensure you will indulge in self-care is by making time for it! I love to do self-care on Sundays, but I know it’s kind of basic. You can choose whatever day or time works for you.

This post was short and sweet. Here you have 9 self-care habits that will transform your daily routine!
